Zoraida Córdova

Zoraida Córdova is a renowned author of urban fantasy and romance novels, who was born in Ecuador but grew up in New York. She learned to speak English by watching The Little Mermaid and Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker repeatedly. Córdova is well-known for her novels Labyrinth Lost, which was named one of the Best Books of 2016 by Paste Magazine and has been optioned by Paramount Studios. The author loves merdudes, Christmas, and New York City at night, all things that are sparkly.

Córdova is the writer of the Vicious Deep trilogy, Labyrinth Lost, and On the Verge series. The Labyrinth Lost series features Alex, a powerful bruja, or witch, in her generation. During her Deathday celebrations, Alex performs a spell to rid herself of her power, which backfires, causing her entire family to vanish. The only way for her to get them back is to travel with Nova, a brujo boy she cannot trust, to Los Lagos, a land in-between as strange as Wonderland and as dark as Limbo.

Córdova is the author of numerous fantasy novels for kids and teens, including the award-winning Brooklyn Brujas series, Incendiary, and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: A Crash of Fate. Her short fiction has appeared in anthologies such as Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Stories of Light and Dark, Come on In: 15 Stories About Immigration and Finding Home, and Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women and Witchcraft. She is the co-editor of the bestselling anthology Vampires Never Get Old and co-hosts the writing podcast, Deadline City. Córdova was born in Ecuador and raised in Queens, New York. She serves on the Board of We Need Diverse Books and writes romance novels under the name Zoey Castile. When she's not working, she's traveling the world in search of magical stories.
