Wesley Chu is a highly accomplished author, born on September 23, 1976, in Taiwan. He spent his early years being raised by his grandparents in his native country, while his parents pursued their studies in America. In 1982, Chu joined his parents in Nebraska, and the family later settled in Chicago in 1990. It was in Chicago that Chu developed a passion for gymnastics and Kung Fu, becoming a master of the martial art.
Chu is best known for his #1 New York Times bestselling Tao, Io, and Time Salvager series, as well as his coauthored Eldest Curses series with Cassandra Clare. He won the Astounding Award for Best New Writer in 2015 and has been a finalist for the Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Science Fiction. His debut novel, The Lives of Tao, won the American Library Association's Alex Award. Robert Kirkman selected Chu to write The Walking Dead: Typhoon, the first Walking Dead novel set in Asia.
In addition to his writing career, Chu is an accomplished martial artist and a former member of the Screen Actors Guild. He has acted in film and television, worked as a model and stuntman, and recently returned from summiting Mount Kilimanjaro. Chu currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Paula, and two sons, Hunter and River. His latest novel, The Art of Prophecy, published by Del Rey Books, is the first book of The War Arts Saga, an Asian epic fantasy inspired by wuxia. The series is currently in development at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
