Theodore Sturgeon

Theodore Sturgeon, born Edward Hamilton Waldo on February 26, 1918, in Staten Island, New York, was a prominent figure in the world of science fiction and dark fantasy. He later adopted his stepfather's last name and took on the first name Theodore, which he used throughout his writing career.

Sturgeon is considered one of the godfathers of contemporary science fiction and dark fantasy, with a writing career that spanned several decades. He is the author of numerous acclaimed short stories and novels, including the classics "More Than Human," "Venus Plus X," and "To Marry Medusa." His work has had a significant impact on the genre, inspiring future writers and leaving a lasting legacy.

In addition to his written work, Sturgeon also contributed to television, writing for shows such as the original 1960s Star Trek series. He is credited with creating the Vulcan mating ritual and the famous expression "Live long and prosper." Sturgeon's influence can also be seen in the work of Kurt Vonnegut, who was inspired by Sturgeon to create the recurring fictional character Kilgore Trout.
