Skylar Dorset is a skilled young adult fantasy author, born and raised in Providence. From a young age, she demonstrated a keen interest in fantasy storytelling, with her first tale featuring two feuding squirrel factions at the tender age of seven. This early foray into writing served as a precursor to her future career, and her love for the genre only grew stronger as she got older. Dorset is now able to share the characters that have been living in her mind for years, and her Otherworld series has been met with positive reception.
Dorset is a New Englander by birth, and this region served as the inspiration for the setting of her debut novel, The Girl Who Never Was. She shares her home with a cardboard cutout of the Tenth Doctor, Mardi Gras beads from her time spent living in New Orleans, and a harp she is currently teaching herself to play. Dorset has a sense of humor and a unique personality, as evidenced by the eclectic items that populate her living space. In addition to her writing and musical pursuits, she has expressed a desire to get a dog. Through her work, Dorset has been able to bring to life the characters and stories that have captivated her for so long, much to the delight of her readers.
