Seanan McGuire

Seanan McGuire is a prolific American author, best known for her urban fantasy novels, which she writes under her real name. In addition to this, she also pens political thriller and horror novels under the pseudonym of Mira Grant. McGuire is the brains behind the October Daye, InCryptid, Newsflesh, and Parasitology series, among others. Her writing has been recognized with several awards, including the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 2010, which she won at the World Science Convention.

McGuire was born in the city of Martinez, California, and spent her early years moving from city to city. Despite this, she was always surrounded by wildlife, which sparked her interest in wild animals, even deadly ones. She is lucky to be alive today, given her fascination with dangerous snakes. McGuire's love for wildlife is reflected in her writing, with many of her stories featuring various creatures.

McGuire's path to becoming a writer began when she stumbled upon a typewriter, which allowed her to hone her English language skills. She has written several urban fantasy and science fiction thriller series, including the October Daye, InCryptid, Newsflesh, and Parasitology series. McGuire's favorite things include the X-Men, folklore, and the Black Death. She writes all biographies in the third person, as she finds it easier that way.
