Ruth Hogan is a published author who was born in Bedford and grew up in a house filled with books. As a child, she developed a love for reading anything she could get her hands on, including Moomintrolls, A Hundred Million Francs, and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. She also had a passion for dogs, horses, and reading gravestones. Hogan studied English and Drama at Goldsmiths College, University of London, where she had an amazing time.
After graduation, Hogan worked for ten years in local government, but a car accident left her unable to work full-time. This turn of events led her to start writing seriously. However, in 2012, she was diagnosed with cancer, which forced her to undergo an exciting hair journey from bald to a peroxide blonde Annie Lennox crop. During her chemo treatments, she passed the time by writing, which eventually led to the publication of her bestselling debut novel, The Keeper of Lost Things. Since then, she has published two more novels, The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes and Queenie Malone's Paradise Hotel. Her fourth novel, Madame Burova, was published on June 27, 2024.
Hogan is a magpie who loves collecting treasures and is a huge John Betjeman fan. She has an assortment of rescue dogs and lives with her long-suffering husband in a chaotic Victorian house. Hogan loves hearing from her readers, and she is grateful for their support, which has allowed her to live her dream as a full-time author. She can be reached on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.
