Robert Kirkman

Robert Kirkman is a highly acclaimed American author, best known for his work in post-apocalyptic horror novels and, more notably, as a comic book writer. He is most famous for creating The Walking Dead, which became a popular television series on AMC. With a growing appeal across various platforms, Kirkman's popularity has been steadily increasing and he has been instrumental in changing the way comic books are perceived.

Kirkman began his career in comic books by self-publishing under his own Funk-O-Tron label. Along with his childhood friend, Tony Moore, he created Battle Pope, which was published in late 2001. Funk-O-Tron published several other books, including InkPunks and Double Take. In 2002, Kirkman started working for other companies, beginning with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Kirkman's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible, and The Walking Dead.

Kirkman has experienced significant success in the adaptation of his comic book titles into major franchises across various forms of content. His Eisner award-winning series, The Walking Dead, was developed into an AMC television series in 2010 and has become a global phenomenon as the highest-rated basic cable drama of all time. The property has also been extended into a blockbuster game franchise, licensing business, and ongoing publishing success. Kirkman also serves as consulting producer of The Talking Dead, a popular talk show that deep dives into each week’s episode of The Walking Dead and its companion series Fear the Walking Dead.
