Robert E. Bailey is an American author who has led an accomplished life in both the military and civil sectors before turning to writing. He served as a corporate security director in Detroit for five years and worked as a licensed private investigator for twenty years. Bailey's military service includes being a Vietnam-era draftee and retiring from the army as a field grader and reservist officer.
As an award-winning combat pistol shot and a former private investigator, Bailey's life experiences have given him a wealth of knowledge to draw upon in his writing. His debut novel, Private Heat, is an action-packed thriller that won the Josiah W. Bancroft Award at the Florida First Coast Writer's Festival in 1998. The book was later nominated for a Shamus Award in 2003, further solidifying Bailey's reputation as a skilled writer of thriller novels.
Bailey's writing career took off after he was injured on the job, which prevented him from working on the street. He has three grown sons and four grandchildren. In addition to the Art Hardin mystery series, which includes Private Heat, Dying Embers, and Dead Bang, Bailey has also worked on a screenplay titled "For Love and Money." His Art Hardin series is soon to be released in ebook format, making his work accessible to a wider audience.
