Rob McInroy is a published author and novelist, who has written under the pen name Tom Conoboy. Originally from Crieff, Perthshire, McInroy's writing is primarily focused on the Perthshire area, spanning from the 1920s to the 2010s. His short stories, such as "Phoenix on the Orange River", have been well-received and he has won four short story competitions in the past eighteen months, including Hissac, ChipLit Fest, Writing Magazine, and the Bedford International Writing Competition. McInroy's writing has also been recognized in a further sixteen competitions in the past eighteen months.
In addition to his success in short story writing, McInroy has also authored two novels. His debut novel, "Cuddies Strip", is based on true crimes in 1930s Scotland and was published by Ringwood Publishing. The novel was a winner of the Bradford Literature Festival Northern Noir Crime Novel competition in 2018. McInroy's follow-up novel, "Barossa Street", set during the abdication crisis of 1936, was published on 11 May 2022. He has also won the Darling Axe Novel First Page Prize in 2019 for another novel, "Cloudland". McInroy holds an MA (with distinction) in Creative Writing and a PhD in American Literature, both from the University of Hull. Currently, he resides in Yorkshire.
