Rebecca Elliot is a children's fiction novelist who has always been a doodler and daydreamer. She began expressing her desire to be an artist and a writer at a young age, stating her ambition in a school project book when she was just six years old. However, her path to becoming a children's book author and illustrator was not a straight one. After completing a degree in philosophy, Elliot worked in a dull office job before her interest in creative pursuits was rekindled.
Elliot is the author and illustrator of the best-selling Owl Diaries series, as well as over 20 picture books including Just Because, Sometimes, Naked Trevor and Zoo Girl. She was nominated for the 2012 Kate Greenaway Medal for her work on these titles. In addition to her picture books and chapter book series, Elliot has also recently released her first young adult novel, Pretty Funny. Her new series, The Unicorn Diaries, is also currently available through Scholastic US.
In 2001, Elliot became a full-time children's book illustrator, fulfilling a childhood dream. She has since become an award-winning and bestselling author of over 30 books for children. When she's not working on her books, Elliot can be found reading, podcasting with her comedian best friend, drumming or singing in her band, making something (normally a mess), or just hanging out in sunny Suffolk with her husband, gorgeous children, moronic chickens and sarcastic cat Bernard. Elliot's work has sold 6 million copies worldwide, proving that her early ambition and determination have paid off.
