Rebecca Brandewyne is a highly acclaimed American author, best known for her work in historical romance, western romance, gothic, and paranormal romance genres. She has written numerous best-selling books and series, including the Angular's Fate series, Chronicles of Tintagel series, Chandlers of Highcliffe Hall series, Swan Road, Rose of Rapture, and Heartland. Brandewyne's novels have been well-received and have helped establish her reputation as a noteworthy romance novelist.
Born as Mary Rebecca Wadsworth on March 4, 1955, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Brandewyne spent her early years in Knoxville and Chattanooga before moving to Kansas with her family. She grew up in Kansas, spending her summers in Alabama, and frequently visiting her maternal and paternal grandparents. Brandewyne identifies as a country girl with a touch of city life, having traveled extensively in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and the Caribbean. She has a B.A. in journalism, minors in history and music (theory and composition), and an M.A. in communications from Wichita State University. Before becoming a published writer, Brandewyne taught interpersonal communication at the university level.
Brandewyne's writing career began when she was twenty-one, and she completed her first novel, No Gentle Love, a year later. She sold the book to Warner Books when she was twenty-three, making her the youngest romance author in America at the time, a record that stood for ten years. She has since written over thirty consecutive bestselling titles, with her books appearing on the New York Times, Publishers Weekly, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Magazine & Bookseller, Ingram, B.
