Raynor Winn

Raynor Winn is a British writer and long-distance walker, born in 1962. She rose to prominence with her debut book "The Salt Path," which became a Sunday Times bestseller in 2018. The book chronicles Winn's journey of walking the South West Coast Path with her husband, Moth, after they lost their home and livelihood. Through this experience, Winn became a passionate long-distance walker and an advocate for raising awareness about homelessness, nature, and wild camping.

Winn's writing is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and her love for the natural world. Her work explores the complex relationship between humans and the land, as well as the healing power of nature. In addition to "The Salt Path," Winn has also written "The Wild Silence," a memoir that delves deeper into her journey of self-discovery and the challenges she faced after losing her home. "The Wild Silence" was shortlisted for the 2021 Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing.

Living in Cornwall, Winn continues to be a regular long-distance walker and an influential voice in the nature writing community. Her work has been widely recognized and has won numerous awards, including the inaugural RSL Christopher Bland Prize and being shortlisted for the 2018 Costa Biography Award and the Wainwright Golden Beer Book Prize. Through her writing, Winn inspires readers to connect with nature and to find hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
