R. William Rogers is an American author from Colorado who is best known for his Christian Westerns. However, his writing interests are not limited to this genre, as he has also written about gold mining, Civil War, sports, and adventure in his series such as "Settlers of South Park", "Cripple Creek Mining District", and "Saga of Willard Hansel". Rogers' most well-known work is the "Arkansas Valley'" series of Christian Westerns, with the first book "Toward A New Beginning" published in 2002. Before becoming a fiction writer, Rogers served in the US Air Force for five years during the Vietnam War as a jet fighter mechanic. He now lives in Widefield, Colorado with his wife, five daughters, granddaughters, and an adopted grandson. Rogers is currently retired from the Army and writes whenever and wherever the inspiration strikes him.
Rogers, originally from central California, moved to Colorado in 1981 and has remained there ever since. He began writing fiction in 1997 while on a bowhunting trip in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains of Colorado. Inspired by the books of Author/Evangelist, Al Lacy, Rogers wrote his first novel "Mustang Justice" on a notepad with a pencil. After receiving positive feedback from his family, he decided to become a writer and began typing the manuscript on the computer. Rogers then had someone outside of his family read his work, which led to the creation of the first three books in the "Arkansas Valley" series: "Toward A New Beginning", "Uncertain Times", and "Shattered Dreams", with "Mustang Justice" being the fourth book in the series. Rogers' work has been recognized with the 2003 Christy Award for 'Excellence In Christian Fiction' for "Toward A New Beginning". He has since written over thirty-eight books in various genres, including adventure, sports, Civil War, and gold mining. Rogers served in the US Air Force for five and a half years during the Vietnam War as a jet fighter mechanic. He is now retired and enjoys writing when and where the inspiration strikes him.
