Pulitzer Prize-winning author P. Djèlí Clark, whose real name is Dexter Gabriel, is known for his works in the genres of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. He has chosen to publish his non-fiction and fiction under different names to avoid confusing or disappointing his readers. In addition to writing under the name P. Djèlí Clark, he has also been published as A. Phenderson Clark.
Clark is best known for his Fatma el-Sha'arawi series, as well as his novels A Master of Djinn, Abeni's Song, and his award-winning and Hugo, Nebula, and Sturgeon nominated novellas Ring Shout, The Black God’s Drums and The Haunting of Tram Car 015. His short stories have been featured in various online venues such as Tor.com, Heroic Fantasy Quarterly, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and in print anthologies including, Griots and Hidden Youth. He is also active on Twitter under the handle @pdjeliclark and maintains a blog called The Disgruntled Haradrim.
