Michael Northrop is an accomplished American author, best known for his works targeting kids and teenagers. He has written a total of 15 books, with his first young adult novel, Gentlemen, earning him a prestigious Publishers Weekly Flying Start citation. Another notable work is his middle-grade novel, Plunked, which was selected for NPR's Backseat Book Club and named one of the best children's books of the year by the New York Public Library.
One of Northrop's most successful series is the middle-grade adventure series TombQuest. The first book in the series, The Book of the Dead, spent three weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list and was also named as one of the best children’s books of the year by the Los Angeles Public Library. The series continues with the second book, Amulet Keepers.
In addition to TombQuest, Northrop has written the hit graphic novel Dear Justice League. His other young adult novel, Trapped, was an Indie Next List selection. He has received significant recognition for his work, including being named a Publishers Weekly Flying Start and having his books selected for the Indie Next List, Junior Library Guild, and numerous state lists. Collectively, his books have sold more than one million copies.
Northrop hails from Salisbury, Connecticut, a small town in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. Here, he honed his skills in various outdoor activities such as BB gun shooting, tree climbing, and field goal kicking, achieving only moderate injuries. After graduating from NYU, he worked at Sports Illustrated Kids magazine for 12 years, the last five of those as baseball editor.
