Medora Sale is a pseudonym for the published Canadian author Caroline Roe. Medora's writing is characterized by her in-depth knowledge of religious diversity in medieval times, which she uses to bring to life the character of the Bishop of Girona's Jewish physician in her 14th-century detective series. This physician, who is also a doctor with important patients and a knack for solving crimes, is featured in the series written by Medora Sale under her alternate pen name, Caroline Roe.
Medora Sale has written six police procedurals, including an Arthur Ellis Award winner. These books are set in and around Toronto and feature homicide detective John Sanders and architectural photographer Harriet Jeffries. Medora Sale's works have been well-received and have contributed significantly to the Malice Domestic series.
Aside from her writing, Medora Sale is an active member of the literary community. She has served as the past president of both Crime Writers of Canada and the international board of Sisters in Crime. Medora and her husband, Harry, enjoy traveling to Spain to research background material for her books. They split their time between Toronto and Spain.
