Mary Lawrence

Mary Lawrence is a successful American author, well-known for her historical thriller/mystery novels. She was born in Southern Indiana and spent the majority of her life in Maine, where she currently resides. Lawrence graduated from Indiana University with a specialty degree in Cytotechnology and has since worked in hospitals and labs for over 25 years. However, her passion for writing and history led her to pursue a career as an author.

Lawrence's writing career took off with her debut novel, "The Alchemist's Daughter," which is the first book in the Bianca Goddard Mysteries series. The series is set in Tudor London during the final years of King Henry VIII's reign, and Bianca is the daughter of an infamous alchemist who uses her wits and some alchemy to solve murders among the commoners. The series has been well-received, with all of its titles reaching the top 100 best-selling historical mysteries category on Amazon. "The Alchemist's Daughter" even reached #1 in the category.

Lawrence's interest in the Tudor Era of England and alchemy inspired her to create the Bianca Goddard character. She initially conceived it as a coming-of-age story, but after receiving rejections, she decided to write it as a mystery. Lawrence worked in labs and wrote indexes for small presses, all the while fine-tuning her writing skills. Her hard work paid off, and she has since become a successful author with a loyal following.

In addition to writing, Lawrence is also a farmer and enjoys farming in Maine. She is an avid reader of historical fiction and nonfiction and concentrates on Tudor/Elizabethan history.
