Martin Caidin was a highly prolific and controversial American author, known for his works in science fiction, military fiction, mystery, thriller, historical fiction, and fantasy genres. He began his writing career in 1957 and went on to pen over 80 books and more than one thousand magazine articles. Caidin's body of work is particularly notable for its focus on the adventures of pilots and astronauts, often featuring realistic and reasonable predictions of futuristic technology.
One of Caidin's most well-known works is the novel "Cyborg," which served as the basis for the popular franchise "The Six Million Dollar Man." In addition to his speculative and science fiction novels, Caidin also wrote a number of non-fiction books about science, aviation, and warfare. He was also a pilot himself and was actively involved in the restoration and flying of older planes.
Caidin's writing career spanned several decades, during which he authored more than 50 fiction and non-fiction books, as well as over 1,000 magazine articles. Some of his other notable works include "Marooned," which was made into an acclaimed film and is considered a harbinger of the Apollo 13 accident, and a novel based on the character Indiana Jones. Caidin's contributions to the world of literature and aviation have left a lasting impact, despite the controversies that surrounded his work.
