Marcy Dermansky

Marcy Dermansky is a renowned author, known for her critically acclaimed novels Very Nice, The Red Car, Bad Marie, and Twins. She has also received fellowships from prestigious institutions such as The MacDowell Colony and The Edward Albee Foundation. Her next novel, Hurricane Girl was released in 2022.

Dermansky has had a successful career in writing, with her work appearing in various publications such as McSweeney’s, Salon, and the Indiana Review. Her writing has also been widely anthologized, featuring in publications like Five Chapters and McSweeney’s. Dermansky’s essay “Maybe I Loved You” was included in the best-selling anthology Goodbye to All That: Writers on Loving and Leaving New York.

In addition to her success in publishing, Dermansky has received numerous accolades for her work. Bad Marie was a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writer's Pick, a finalist in the Morning News Tournament of Books, and was named one of the best novels of the year in Esquire. Her first novel Twins was a New York Times Editor's Choice Pick, and Powell's Bookstore named Marcy a Writer to Watch Out For. Dermansky has also won several awards for her writing, including the Smallmouth Press Andre Dubus Novella Award and Story Magazine Carson McCuller short story prize.

Dermansky received her Bachelor of Arts at Haverford College and her Master of Arts at the Center for Writers at the University of Southern, Mississippi. She currently resides in Montclair, New Jersey, with her daughter Nina.
