Lynn Abbey is a respected and prolific author in the fantasy genre, with a career that spans several decades. She began publishing in 1979, with the novel "Daughter of the Bright Moon" and the short story "The Face of Chaos," which was featured in a shared world anthology called Thieves World. Abbey's early writing was met with encouragement from esteemed author Gordon R. Dickson, which helped to propel her career forward.
In the 1980s, Abbey became known for her work as a co-editor, alongside Robert Asprin, on the Thieves World books. During this time, she also contributed to other shared world series, including Heroes in Hell and Merovingen Nights. Abbey's writing during the 1980s established her as a prominent figure in the fantasy genre, and her collaborations with Asprin helped to solidify her reputation as a skilled editor and writer.
Abbey and Asprin divorced in 1993, and Abbey subsequently moved to Oklahoma City. Despite the personal changes in her life, Abbey continued to write and publish novels, including original works and tie-ins to Role Playing Games for TSR. In 2002, she returned to Thieves World with the novel "Sanctuary" and began editing new anthologies, starting with "Turning Points". Abbey's ability to adapt to new challenges and continue to produce high-quality work has made her a respected and admired figure in the fantasy genre.
