Linn Ullmann

Linn Ullmann is an accomplished journalist and author, best known for her literary fiction works. Born in Oslo, Norway, she is the daughter of Swedish screenwriter and director Ingmar Bergman and director, author, and actress Liv Ullmann. After graduating from New York University with a focus on English literature, Ullmann returned to Norway to begin her journalism career.

Ullmann's literary career took off with the publication of her first novel, "Before You Sleep," in 1998. This was followed by the release of "Stella Descending" in 2001, and "Grace" in 2002, which won the "Reader's Prize" in Norway and was named one of the ten best novels of that year by the Danish newspaper Weekendavisen. "Grace" was also longlisted for the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize in the UK in 2007. Ullmann's body of work has been published in the United States and Europe and translated into more than 30 languages worldwide. Her novel "The Cold Song," published in 2011, was listed as one of Kirkus Reviews' best fiction works of that year, and made the list for 2014's James Wood's six favorite novels of the year in the New Yorker. It also made the list for the 50 best independent poetry and fiction works of the year.

In addition to her work as an author, Ullmann has also served as the Artistic Director and co-founder of the International Artist Residency Foundation. She currently resides in Oslo, Norway and continues to work as a journalist and a regular columnist for Norway's leading newspaper, Aftenposten. Ullmann's contributions to the literary world have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Norwegian Amalie Skram prize in 2007. Her novel "A Blessed Child," published in 2005, was also shortlisted for the Brage Prize, one of Norway's most prestigious literary awards.
