Linda Olsson

Linda Olsson is a highly acclaimed Swedish author who currently resides in Auckland, New Zealand. She is best known for her contemporary fiction, which she writes in both Swedish and English. Olsson gained international success with her first book, 'Let Me Sing You Gentle Songs,' which was published in 2005 and quickly became an international bestseller, translated into over a dozen languages.\n \nBorn in Stockholm in 1948, Olsson grew up in a working-class family and went on to study law at the University of Stockholm. After graduating, she worked in finance and banking before leaving Sweden in 1986 to take up a job in Nairobi, Kenya. This marked the beginning of her nomadic lifestyle, as she spent the following years living in several countries before settling in New Zealand in 1990. It was here that she decided to return to school, completing her bachelor’s degree at Victoria University and going on to earn a degree in German and English literature at the University of Wellington.

Olsson's writing journey began with the publication of 'Let Me Sing You Gentle Songs,' which was released in New Zealand in September 2005. The book quickly gained popularity, and the rights were soon sold to numerous countries. It was published in the US and Canada under the title 'Astrid and Veronika' and in her home country of Sweden as 'Låt mig sjunga dig milda sånger.' Since then, Olsson has added several more international bestsellers to her name and has earned both critical acclaim and commercial success for her work. She now spends her time traveling between her native Sweden and her adopted home in Auckland, New Zealand.
