L. Ron Hubbard

L. Ron Hubbard was a renowned American author, best known for his works in the science fiction, fantasy, adventure, mystery, and western genres. He was born on March 13, 1911, in Tilden, Nebraska, and was the only child of Harry Ross Hubbard, a former Navy officer, and Ledora May, a trained teacher. The family moved to Kalispell, Montana during the First World War, where his father rejoined the navy and her mother began working for the state government as a clerk.

Hubbard is widely regarded as one of the most influential authors of the modern age, with 19 New York Times bestsellers and more than 350 million copies of his works in circulation. He was a leading light of American Pulp Fiction through the 1930s and '40s, and his writings have been paid tribute to by many masters of imaginative tales, including Ray Bradbury and Stephen King. His works have had a significant impact on American literature and culture, and his legacy as an author continues to this day.

In addition to his literary accomplishments, Hubbard is also known for founding the Church of Scientology and developing the system of Dianetics.
