Kristin James

Kristin James is a pseudonym for the bestselling author Candace James. She writes romance novels, both contemporary and historical. Candace was born in Amarillo, Texas, and grew up in a newspaper family. She has early memories of making up stories and playing them out as a child. Writing became her favorite form of relaxation, and she began writing down her stories at the age of ten. However, she pursued law before becoming a full-time writer.

Candace attended the University of Texas at Austin and West Texas State University, then became a secondary teacher in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She later moved to North Carolina, where she discovered the romance novel in modern form and started to write her first romance. She also began law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and while she was there, she finished her first novel, entitled Bonds of Love, that was published by Jove Publishing in 1978, under the pseudonym Lisa Gregory. Candace credits the rigorous training of law school with teaching her the discipline necessary to finish a book. She gave up the practice of law to devote her time to writing. Candace is married and has a daughter, Anastasia Hopcus, who is also a writer.

Kristin James is also known as an artist, model, and author based in the UK. She is an avid gamer and lover of all things nerdy, including cosplay, tabletop games, and fanfiction. Kristin is currently working on two novels, and she is also working on various art pieces, including some commission work and costumes from her favorite video games. She speaks several different languages, including Russian, French, and Spanish. Kristin has a shameful passion for vampires and vampire-related literature and art, and she enjoys watching scary vampire movies, such as Bram Stoker's Dracula.
