James Robertson

James Robertson is a renowned Scottish writer, who was born in 1958 and grew up in Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire. Robertson has made a significant contribution to literature through his publications, which include novels, poetry collections, and short story collections. His works have earned him considerable recognition and numerous awards in the literary world.

Robertson's published novels include "The Fanatic," "Joseph Knight," "The Testament of Gideon Mack," and "And the Land Lay Still." His novel "Joseph Knight" was a major success, earning him the Scottish Arts Council Book of the Year and the Saltire Society Book of the Year awards in 2003/04. "The Testament of Gideon Mack" was also well-received and was long-listed for the Man Booker Prize in 2006. "And the Land Lay Still" was another notable success, winning the Saltire Society Book of the Year Award in 2010.

In addition to his novels, Robertson has also established an independent publishing imprint called Kettillonia, which produces occasional pamphlets and books of poetry and short prose. He is also a co-founder and the general editor of the Scots language imprint Itchy Coo, which produces books in Scots for children and young people. Robertson's work in publishing has further solidified his place as a significant figure in the literary world. He currently resides in rural Angus, where he continues to write and publish.
