Herman Koch is a renowned Dutch author, actor, and television producer. He was born in Arnhem, Netherlands, and later moved to Amsterdam. Koch spent some time studying Russian and even lived in Finland for a while. He is currently married to Amalia, and they have an adult son together.
Throughout his career, Koch has established a substantial bibliography of literary fiction novels, short-story collections, and columns. He has gained a global readership and a solid reputation in the writing industry. In addition to his written work, Koch has also made a name for himself as a screenwriter, contributing to film, television, and radio productions. His talent for writing is not limited to the page, as he has also acted in radio, television, and film productions. Furthermore, Koch co-created the popular TV series Jiskefet, which ran from 1990 to 2005.
Koch's breakthrough novel, 'Het diner' (The Dinner), was published in 2009 and became a best-seller in 17 countries. The novel was partly inspired by a true story involving a homeless woman named María del Rosario Endrinal Petit in Barcelona, Spain, in December 2005. His success with The Dinner has solidified Koch's place as a prominent figure in the literary world.
