Gervase Phinn

Gervase Phinn is a renowned author from England, best known for his work in the genres of children's books, biographies and memoirs, and literature & fiction. He has written a number of successful novel series, including the popular "The Dales Series." Phinn was born on December 27, 1946, in Rotherham, West Riding, Yorkshire, England. In addition to his work as an author, Phinn is also an accomplished educator, having worked as a teacher, education adviser, and schools inspector before retiring.

Phinn's career in education spanned over 14 years, during which time he worked in a variety of schools in different positions. After retiring, he became a schools inspector and later went on to become a Visiting Professor of Education at the University of Teesside. He has also served as a consultant for the Open University, Honorary Fellow of St. John's College, York, Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) of the University of Leicester, Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) of The University of Hull, and Fellow and Visiting Professor of Education at The University of Teesside. In 2005, Phinn was awarded the highest academic award of Sheffield Hallam University, Doctor of the University (D.Univ.), by the Chancellor, Professor Lord Robert Winston. In 2006, he became President of The School Library Association.

Phinn has published five volumes of memoirs, collections of poetry, and several books about education. His writing often showcases his particular interest in children's literature and literacy. He is married and has four grown-up children. Phinn's contributions to education and literature have made him one of the most popular authors from England, and his works continue to be widely read and appreciated around the world.
