Frank E Peretti

Frank E. Peretti is a highly acclaimed Christian fiction author, best known for his supernatural themes and inspirational novels. Peretti was born in Canada and raised in Seattle, where he developed a love for storytelling at a young age. He would often gather neighborhood children to regale them with animated stories. After graduating from high school, Peretti became a musician, joining a local bluegrass band and playing the banjo. He later settled down, got married in 1972, and started a small Christian music ministry.

Peretti's passion for storytelling led him to study English, screenwriting, and film at the University of California and Los Angeles. He then became a minister at an Assembly of God church. However, in 1983, Peretti decided to give up his pastoring position and began working construction to support his family. It was during this time that he began writing his debut novel, "This Present Darkness," while working at a ski factory. After facing numerous rejections and slow sales, the novel gained momentum through word-of-mouth enthusiasm and became a bestseller. The book appeared on Bookstore Journal’s bestseller list every month for more than eight years.

Peretti's two spiritual warfare novels, "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness," captivated readers and sold more than 3.5 million copies. He also wrote "The Cooper Kids Adventure Series," a best-selling series for children that has sold over 1 million copies. In addition to his fiction work, Peretti released his first non-fiction book, "The Wounded Spirit," in 2000, which became a best-seller. The book addresses the pain of "wounded spirits" and was written as a result of painful childhood experiences. Peretti and his wife, Barbara Jean, live in the Western U.S., where he enjoys a simple life that includes carpentry, banjo making, sculpturing, bicycling, and hiking. He is also an avid pilot. With more than 12 million novels in print, Peretti is a publishing phenomenon and has been called "America’s hottest Christian novelist."
