Francine Rivers

Francine Rivers is a successful American author, best known for her romance novels, including those of the Christian fiction genre. She was born in the United States in 1947 and had wanted to be a writer since she was a child. Rivers pursued her passion for writing and communication by obtaining a B.A. in English and journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno. She began her career as a newspaper reporter, writing obituaries and human-interest stories.

Rivers' writing career took a significant turn in 1986 when she became a born-again Christian. This transformation led her to focus on writing Christian fiction novels, which she found challenging initially. She decided to spend time reading the Bible to develop plots for her new novels, which proved to be a fruitful endeavor. In 1991, Rivers released her first Christian fiction novel, Redeeming Love, which she considered a statement of her faith. This novel, based on the life story of a prostitute who finds redemption through Christianity, became a significant success and remains one of her most popular works.

Over the course of her career, Rivers has written numerous bestselling novels, including Redeeming Love, A Voice in the Wind, and Bridge to Haven. Her work has been translated into more than thirty different languages, and she has gained a large following of dedicated readers worldwide. Rivers has received numerous accolades for her work, including being a member of Romance Writers of America's Hall of Fame and a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW). She currently resides in Northern California with her husband and has three children and five grandchildren.
