Frances Hardinge

Frances Hardinge is a highly respected English author, well-known for her young adult and children's fantasy novels. Born in Brighton, England in 1973, Hardinge developed a love for writing at a very young age, aspiring to be a writer by the time she was only four years old. This early passion for storytelling was no doubt fueled by her unique upbringing in a large, isolated old house located in a small, unusual village.

Hardinge's childhood home and village provided her with a wealth of inspiration, sparking her imagination and leading her to create strange and magical stories from a young age. This creativity stayed with her as she pursued her education, studying English at Oxford University.
