Fran Rizer is a successful American author, best known for her cozy mystery, thriller, and horror novels. She has won numerous awards for her writing, including a Porter Fleming Fiction Award and nominations for an Agatha Award and a SIBA Award. Rizer is a native of South Carolina, where she continues to reside.
In addition to her work as a novelist, Rizer has also published articles in various magazines such as Bluegrass Unlimited, Bluegrass Now, Field & Stream, and Better Homes and Gardens. She has also written short fiction stories, which have been released in Canada and the USA. Rizer has a keen interest in photography and has won numerous awards for her work, including the prestigious Sequence of Smile award for her photo-essay.
Before becoming a successful author, Rizer was involved in poetry and fiction writing competitions, where she won several awards. She also co-authored scientific studies for Clemson University. Rizer has a diverse range of talents, including writing songs, many of which have been recorded, published, and received radio airplay. In 2006, Rizer signed a three-book contract with Berkeley Prime Crime publications for the first three books in the Callie Parrish series. She went on to publish a total of seven books in this series, as well as a standalone thriller called Kudzu River and a collection of ghost stories called Southern Swamps & Ruins.
