Eric Walters

Eric Walters is a well-known Canadian author, born in 1957 in Toronto, Ontario. He has always been in contact with children and young adults through his various roles as a parent, teacher, social worker, youth sports coach, and writer. These experiences have helped him capture the realistic interactions between young people, reflecting their conflicts, tensions, stresses, and interests in his stories. Walters began his writing journey as a teacher, always reading stories to his students and using their enthusiasm as inspiration for his writing and teaching.

Walters is a prolific writer with 92 titles to his name, excelling in both fiction and non-fiction genres. His adventure writings engage readers with experiences of the places he visits, which he incorporates into his novels. His works have received numerous awards, including the National Outdoor Book Award, the Silver Birch award, Children's Choice Award, the Canadian Library Book of the Year Honor, and the UNESCO Honor Selection Designation. Some of his notable novels, such as Walking Home and The Rule of Three, have been listed as bestsellers by the New York Times, YA Teen Review Gallery, CM Magazine, The Francisco Book Review, and The Publishers Weekly.

In addition to his writing, Walters runs the Creation of Hope organization, which provides care for orphans in Kenya. When writing, Walters immerses himself in research, experiencing the subjects he intends to write about, such as walking 200 kilometers across the Sahara for Just Deserts and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with his son for Between Heaven and Earth.
