Dawn Roma French was born on October 11, 1957, in Holyhead, Wales, to English parents. She has an older brother named Gary and spent her early years in a military community due to her father's service in the Royal Air Force. At the age of three, French had the honor of having Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother visit her home at RAF Leconfield for tea.
French is a highly acclaimed British actress, writer, and comedian, with a career spanning over three decades. She has been nominated for six BAFTA Awards and won a Fellowship BAFTA alongside her comedy partner Jennifer Saunders. French is best known for her work in the comedy sketch show French and Saunders, as well as her role as Geraldine Granger in the popular sitcom The Vicar of Dibley.
With a career in comedy that has spanned over thirty years, French has made a significant impact in British television. She has appeared in numerous successful shows, including Murder Most Horrid, The Vicar of Dibley, Jam and Jerusalem, Lark Rise to Candleford, and Roger and Val Have Just Got In.
