Dana Cameron

Dana Cameron is a highly accomplished American author, best known for her works in the crime fiction, urban fantasy, and mystery genres. She was born in New England and spent her formative years in the same region. Currently, she resides in Massachusetts with her husband, where she leads a relatively quiet and ordinary life. However, Cameron's internal life is far from mundane, as she possesses a keen eye for detail and a unique perspective on life, which she effectively channels into her suspenseful and mysterious writings.

Cameron's interest in archaeology began in her childhood, thanks to her passion for books and the opportunities she had to travel to various places. This early exposure to cultural differences sparked her curiosity and deepened her understanding of the field. She enjoys the opportunity to resurrect individuals from the monolith of history through her work in archaeology, having worked on numerous historical and prehistoric sites in Europe and the US. Cameron is also a dedicated teacher, sharing her knowledge and passion for archaeology in the field, in classrooms, museums, and through her writing.

In her first book, "Site Unseen," Cameron introduces the chief protagonist, Emma Fielding, an efficient and hardworking woman who realizes the similarities between the questions archaeologists and detectives ask. These include who, what, where, when, how, and why. Cameron's experience in archaeology has proven to be valuable in her writing career, as it has taught her the importance of research, logic, and persistence. This training has been instrumental in her success in writing archaeology mysteries, historical mysteries, urban fantasies, and noir genres.

Cameron's works have been recognized with multiple Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity Awards, and have been shortlisted for the Edgar Award. Several of her Emma Fielding archaeology mysteries have been adapted into movies for the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel. "HELLBENDER" is the third urban fantasy novel set in her Fangborn 'verse. Cameron continues to reside in Massachusetts, where she continues to write and draw inspiration from her surroundings.
