Catherine "Cate" Glass is a science fiction and fantasy author, best known for her Chimera series of fantasy adventure books. Cate is actually a pseudonym for Carol Berg, an award-winning author who has written more than a dozen epic fantasy novels, novellas, and short stories. Cate's love for literature and writing began while she was studying mathematics at Rice University and software engineering at the University of Colorado. Despite her successful career in software development, Cate found herself drawn to the world of fiction writing and began crafting her own stories.
Cate's writing is influenced by her lifelong passion for reading and her extensive studies in English and History of Art. She has a wide range of interests and has spent much of her life exploring imaginary realms through literature, including Middle Earth, Camelot, Amber, Wonderland, and Harry Dresden's Chicago. When she's not writing, Cate enjoys binge-watching movies, hiking, camping, and biking with her husband. They have three sons who share their love for adventure and creativity, with careers spanning music, teaching, software, carpentry, rocket science, and ice hockey.
