Billy Crystal is a highly accomplished American actor, writer, producer, comedian, and film director, who has been active in the entertainment industry for several decades. He was born William Jacob Crystal on March 14, 1948, in New York City and grew up in the Long Island suburbs. Crystal gained prominence in the 1970s for playing Jodie Dallas, the son of Richard Mulligan's and Cathryn Damon's characters on the popular ABC comedy-drama, Soap.
During the late 1980s and 1990s, Crystal became a household name in Hollywood, appearing in several box office successes, including When Harry Met Sally... and City Slickers.
