Angela Slatter

Angela Slatter is a highly accomplished author in the genres of science fiction, horror, and urban fantasy. She has been writing freelance since 2011, but has been publishing her stories for over a decade prior. Slatter is a prolific writer, having produced eight short story collections and three novels, including the urban fantasy novels Vigil and Corpselight. Her work has been widely recognized, earning her numerous awards such as a World Fantasy Award, a British Fantasy Award, a Ditmar, and six Aurealis Awards.

Slatter's writing has been featured in various Australian, UK, and US Best Of anthologies such as The Mammoth Book of New Horror, The Year’s Best Dark Fantasy and Horror, The Best Horror of the Year, The Year’s Best Australian Fantasy and Horror, and The Year’s Best YA Speculative Fiction. Her stories have been translated into several languages including Bulgarian, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, and Romanian. Slatter's writing has also been adapted for the screen, with film rights optioned for her short stories and novelettes.

Slatter has a strong academic background in creative writing, holding a master's and doctorate degree in the field. She has also been a graduate of Clarion South 2009 and the Tin House Summer Writers Workshop 2006. In 2013, she was awarded one of the inaugural Queensland Writers Fellowships. Slatter has also been an Established Writer-in-Residence at the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre in Perth. She is currently represented by Ian Drury of the literary agency Sheil Land for her long fiction, by Lucy Fawcett of Sheil Land for film rights, and by Alex Adsett of Alex Adsett Publishing Services for illustrated storybooks.
