Alison Weir

Alison Weir is a renowned British author, known for her historical non-fiction and fiction books. All of her works, whether fiction or non-fiction, revolve around the topic of the British monarchy. Weir has written biographies of numerous royals, including Elizabeth I, Henry VIII, Mary, Queen of Scots, Isabella of France, and many others. She has also written about the British Royal Family Tree and the Wars of the Roses.

Born in London, England on July 8, 1951, Alison Weir grew up in Central London and was deeply inspired by her mother. At the age of 14, Weir developed a keen interest in history after reading a historical book about Catherine of Aragon. She completed her academic education from the School for Girls in City of London and later from the North Western Polytechnic.

Before becoming an author, Weir worked as a teacher of children with special needs. She received her formal training in history at teacher training college. Weir currently lives in Surrey, England, with her two children. Her written works are typically based on the history, literature, and fiction genres. In addition to her biographies, Weir has also written books such as "Britain's Royal Families," "The Six Wives of Henry VIII," "Children of England," "Eleanor of Aquitaine," "Henry VIII: King and Court," "Mary, Queen of Scots," and "Isabella: She-Wolf of France."
