Alice Borchardt

Alice Borchardt was an American author, born on October 6, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the fourth of five sisters, including her sister Anne Rice, who also became a renowned novelist. The O'Brien family, including Alice, moved to Richardson, Texas, when she was a teenager. After completing her education, Borchardt embarked on a 30-year career as a licensed vocational nurse.

Borchardt's foray into the world of literature happened later in her life. After facing staff reductions at the hospital where she worked, her sister Anne Rice, encouraged and supported her entry into novel writing. Alice's debut novel, Devoted, was published when she was in her mid-50s. This marked the beginning of a successful writing career that produced seven books, including the popular Legends of the Wolves trilogy. Sadly, Alice Borchardt passed away on July 24, 2007, in Houston, Texas. Her contributions to the genres of fantasy, science fiction, and historical fiction remain noteworthy, and her works continue to be celebrated by readers and critics alike.
